Important Notice to all visitors to Somerville House on the 14th March 2020
Dear Family and friends
As you know the health and safety of our residents is of the utmost importance to us here at Somerville House.
Considering the current situation regarding Coronavirus (COVID- 19) and the daily changes to the government guidelines, we feel it is important for us to protect our residents and minimize the risk to them as much as possible.
For this reason, all non-essential visits to the care home are now suspended until further notice.
We have not taken this decision lightly and appreciate this may cause some concern however we feel this is a necessary step to take at this time. Please be assured that essential services, including medical assistance will continue as normal.
Our staff will be doing all they can to ensure that Home life continues as normal within the home.
To maintain contact between your friend or relative please do not hesitate to contact us by letter, email or phone. We can always get a phone to your friend or relative wherever they may be in the home, we would ask however that you avoid certain times in particular lunch time (12.00- 13.30), in the morning before 10.00 am and at weekends where possible. This will avoid any frustration and disappointment during times when we may experience a high number of calls.
Please be patient with us.
We are continuing with our robust infection control practices and have strict protocols in place to limit the risk of cross-infection in our care home.
We monitor resident’s health closely and continuously and are in daily contact with all our usual health professionals be they doctors, nurses, community support teams and the pharmacy. The health and well-being of our care home staff are also being closely monitored.
